Late in 1935, things were a lot different then they are today. Songs like Pennies from Heaven by Bing Crosby and Goody - Goody by Benny Goodman were chart toppers. The Jitterbug and Lindy Hop were the greatest rage. Franklin D. Roosevelt was president and Ford unveils a new concept - the V-8 engine.

Our Founders

During that year 2 young men, Harry R. Cline and John Waszkiewicz, decided to start a food service company. A company that catered to restaurant dealers and consultants. A Company that made high quality shows case products from stainless steel. Hence, United Show Case Co., Inc. was born. Starting out on 53rd St. in Manhattan, the company formed its roots that are still in place today.

During the next 18 years the company continued to grow, but things in New York and the World changed. The year was 1952. Dwight Eisenhower was president. Bob Hope and Jackie Gleason were Popular TV entertainers and Pizza was the latest Fad.

The two brothers-in-law decided to move the company from Manhattan to the rural countryside of NJ. They located a parcel only 6 miles from Manhattan. Farmland and swamps surrounded it. There was a small local airport with one dirt runway, but otherwise theirs would be the only building here. However, somehow they knew this would be a good business location. So in 1952 they constructed a 6000 sq. ft building and moved to Moonachie, NJ.

The business continued to grow nicely over the next several years. In 1954, a second building, 5,000 square feet in size, was added to the property. This building housed a Zinc and Nickel plating facility. In 1956, the first of 3 additions to the original building was added. The first addition was 6000 sq.ft. It allowed United Show Case to relieve some of the cramping associated from its growth.

Traveling Show Room
In 1956, United hired it first manufacturers representative, E. N. McClure. Mr. McClure traveled the states of Ohio and Illinois in a converted station wagon. His car was cramped full of the latest offerings from United Show Case Co. Protector Cases to Bar Rails and Brackets - he had it all.

In 1958, Several things happened that would effect the company greatly. A second company was started, JL Tubing. This company was operated out of the same building as United Show Case Co. JL sold and distributed square and round stainless steel tubing products. A second addition was added to the Moonachie property. This addition joined the plating facility to the first addition that was constructed in 1954. The extra 1500 sq. feet which was added to the building was used primarily for JL Tubing to store their products.
